Visit a nearby garden in Williamsville, NY today and begin celebrating all the beautiful colors of the season. Whether you’re in or out of your Windsong Place apartment, you too can celebrate this exciting time of year. Here are a few ideas:

1. Create a Floral Arrangement for Your Apartment

Head over to Mischler’s for a bouquet ready to purchase and display in your apartment, or buy your favorite flowers to arrange yourself from their greenhouses. Did you know flowers have meanings? What you put into your bouquet can send a message. Learn the symbolism of flowers with this flower meanings guide.

2. Read a Book about Wildflowers

If you’re not feeling crafty, you can always find another way to appreciate wildflowers. Actually, you don’t even have to go outdoors to appreciate wildflowers. You could always curl up with Thoreau’s Wildflowers.

3. Visit a Botanical Garden or Nature Center

  • Reinstein Woods is “a unique 292-acre complex of forests, ponds, and wetlands surrounded by suburban development. Reinstein Woods offers a variety of opportunities to explore and learn about nature for families and people of all ages.” Head over to Reinstein Woods for a pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The center hosts public programs or you can simply enjoy a self-guided hike along one of the many trails which are open daily from sunrise to sunset. You are likely to see prime examples of spring wildflowers in bloom.

  • Buffalo Botanical Gardens is the perfect place to head for a weekend jaunt. The center is celebrating National Public Gardens Day on May 11th with $1.00 admission prices. To find out what other events are being held in May, check out the Exhibits and Events page.
